I’ve noticed the price of Bran Flakes creeping up! I even noticed that Surf went from £1.89 to £1.99 in the shop on the high street. When I was in Asda last week, the yellow one was £1.50 I picked that up straight away, despite it not being my usual scent. But as long as my clothes are clean, that’s all that matters.
Anywho, I digress, the credit crunch is biting me hard. No longer am I up for a rave, if it isn’t popping I am not there and if it’s more than a tenner forget it. That right there is petrol/oyster/food/clothes money. Raving is not the one anymore, even a free rave just puts me off. That’s because I have found the perfect rave, ‘My house’. It’s a new one- with free entry, free food and drink and air con is not an issue.

So with recent financial times I am contemplating getting an upgrade on my car next month. But after reading this: http://www.onlyfinance.com/Car-Insurance-News/12754468-Credit-crunch-attacks-car-sales.aspx
I am thinking it isn’t worth it, I have an oyster card and a car that works so why bother?

Then I had the thought that what with car insurance prices going up, is it worth it? I am paying about £55 and compared to the £91 when I first started driving, this is good. But what about getting an 09 plate will it cost more yada yada yada.

But back to my original point, the credit crunch. I would just like to say no matter what the current financial state of the economy is you will never catch me slipping. Some people are walking the streets and slacking on vital things like ermmm deodorant. Never that.

The credit crunch may be biting hard but my tip? Never slack!

I don’t mean we should all turn Scrooge and let the recession affect our appearance. Never that. But it’s time to limit the caramel macchiatos and mochas that I have become accustomed to and time to use the dreaded work kettle and make my coffee. I mean there has been a jar of Kenco in my drawer for the past month and the amount of times I’ve used it I could count on one hand. It’s funny how I can mange to find myself standing in a queue in Starbucks- leave the office- but can’t go to the kitchen to make a coffee. Which is more cost-effective and probably takes up less time and I could put as much coffee as I want! Making it stronger and I’ll be able to get through the day that little bit more with extra coffee.
The credit crunch also brings me to my next point. Finding a more cost-effective way of getting to work. I thought about walking one stop so I could save £1 if I do it both in the morning and after work (I refuse to buy a monthly pass, its cheaper for me to PAYG). But let’s be realistic after a night out or in, will I really get up out of bed that bit earlier? Nah, thought not. But on the way back from work that is an option, I could even pop in to Tesco or Iceland on the way home. I also thought about getting a moped. My brother reckons his friend spends £10 a week on petrol for his moped. I really could see myself whizzing down the A40 in a baby pink moped. But then I realised I will be paying for two insurance policies. When you compare car insurance to bike insurance premiums, bikes probably work out cheaper. So I would be saving money, but I thought about winter. I can barely sand outside for too long when it’s cold let alone drive in the cold. And what about when it’s raining? My hair?!?!
So as much as in theory a bike would be best for me, I would really need the choice of both car and bike, and the words credit crunch come to mind and forking out for two insurance polices really isn’t the one.

That my friends was my thought for the day okay well maybe just morning. Monday morning and I am thinking about cruising to work in my moped to save time and money. Well back to the grind for me.

How we both would love to be sitting on a beach somewhere hot and bask in the sun. We then got onto the topic of how recently there seems to be a few travel companies going bust due to none other than the infamous credit crunch. It seems to be small firms that do cheap holidays to Europe that are really feeling the effects of the current economic climate. We continued talking and for a brief moment even said how great it would be to be on holiday and get stranded because the tour operator went bust. Why would you wish that on yourself I hear you ask? Well think about it, you are in a hot country, accommodation paid for and will be there indefinitely. Provided you have enough funds to continue staying there and an understanding employer, it would be brilliant! However knowing my luck I would be ill and stranded and broke. Apparently the travel companies are going to ensure the holidaymakers get a flight home, so I guess in that sense they will be okay and will eventually come back home. And if you have travel insurance
I am assuming you would get compensation. Isn’t that the whole purpose of getting a travel policy? To ensure if your flight is delayed, or anything was to happen to you- there is the peace of mind there that you will be okay.
For that brief moment the idea of being stranded on a beach sipping a pina colada sounded so nice to us city girls, but reality kicked in and I am sure the people getting stranded aren’t enjoying it.

I have decided to look in to getting myself some life insurance. ‘What for?’ I hear you ask. I know about that whole ‘only if you have a mortgage’ spiel that people love to go on about. But I was thinking to myself the other day, what if I was never to get a mortgage. Not everyone gets mortgages, what if I become an eternal renter? Aren’t my family entitled to something say ‘should the worst happen’. I don’t have dependents but I have a large family and it is because of this I am looking into getting a life insurance policy.
I guess things like life and health go hand in hand and I, my friend, am looking to do things the right way.

Anywho, much to surprise I received a phonecall on Wednesday and due to me being at work I couldn’t answer it. The person left a message- which is a bit odd for an 0800 phone number. I listened to my voicemail and I was told to call back. Lunch time came and went and I really couldn’t be bothered to give them a call back. So today the company called back and I decided this random number really needs to stop ringing off my phone. I called back, and the person kindly informed the person I was after was on another call. I told him, its either now or never, I am sick of this number harassing me. Okay harassing is a very strong word. But you get the gist. So the man on the line told me it was a personal injury company called Claims something or another said my insurance company *coughKwikFitcough* passed on my details. Okay, stop. Right. There. Kwik Fit passed on MY details? How dare they? I feel validated, what else are they passing on. So where was I? Putting in their Accident Claims and lving it up once they get paid out.

So surely I could claim, for broadcasting negligence or something ludicrous like that?!?

But they also said the bank has paid of some of its debt to the Bank of England. However they are still considering to inject more cash to keep the bank in business. I understand Northen Rock doesn't have any shareholders as such anymore and is under supervision of the government. Have I understood that correctly? What you think it will be the future of the bank and the money has been injected to save the bank?
